Collaboration Tools

Let's Share Ideas and Best Practices

I was wondering...

  1. How do I collaborate online?
  2. Do you use Atlassian/Jive or any other tools?
  3. How often do you collaborate?
  4. Do you offer in person meetings?

How do I collaborate online?

We use Slack to collaborate online. You should receive an invitation once you are enrolled into the project.

Do you use Atlassian/Jive or any other tools?

No. We prefer html and Slack.

How often do you collaborate?

MobiCycle is available via Slack or on email. Iteration reviews occur at the end of a sprint or milestone. They tend to last 30-60 minutes. Retrospectives occur at the end of the interation and last 60 minutes to one hour...... (just checking to see if you are paying attention).

Do you offer in person meetings?

Most teams operate virtually but in person meetings can be arranged on an as needed basis.

Deadlines

To the Finish Line!

I was wondering...

  1. Where do I find the deadlines?
  2. What if I can't make a deadline?
  3. What if I miss a deadline?
  4. Are your deadlines negotiable?

Where do I find the deadlines?

Once enrolled, MobiCycle will provide a link to an html document. The top of the document outlines all deadlines broken down by project and responsible party.

What if I can't meet a deadline?

Please let the project leader know as soon as possible as others may rely on your submissions.

What if I miss a deadline?

MobiCycle will evaluate whether you communicated missing the deadline before it was missed, the severity of the missing contribution upon the project timescales and the importance of the missed submission to the overall application.

Are your deadlines negotiable?

Not under normal circumstances.

Financials

It's a Piece of Cake

Please clarify...

  1. How much can I charge?
  2. How will I be paid?
  3. How much will I be paid?
  4. What information you require?

How much can I charge?

The day rates are usually set by the funding organisation. Generally, MobiCycle allocates 10-20% of the overall project per each partner.

How will I be paid?

Generally, you are reimbursed after expenses have been incurred.

How much will I be paid?

Partners are responsible for match funding, even if the sponsor does not require the partner or subcontractor to bear responsibility. So, if the match funding requirement is 30%, you can submit receipts and expect to be reimbursed for 70% of your total costs.

What information you require?

Many funding organisations require submission of a Finance Form. Please ensure you submit your financial information prior to the deadline.

Team Size

There's No 'I' in Team

Please tell me...

  1. How large will the team be?
  2. What are the minimum skills required?
  3. Are your teams virtual or onsite?
  4. Do you require travel?

How large will the team be?

The team size can vary based on the funding requirements. MobiCycle have applied for funding with teams as small as 4 people to projects spanning several countries with 30+ organisations and 75+ members.

What are the minimum skills required?

We would expect each person seconded to the project to have proven experience working in their area of expertise, unless the position is specifically outlined as an apprenticeship.

Are your teams virtual or onsite?

Due to the international nature of MobiCycle's work, our teams usually operate virtually.

Do you require travel?

Not under normal circumstances. If travel is required, we will budget time and costs as part of the project submission.
